1997 called and they are freaking ecstatic to share their best with the people of today. Turkey and the Wolf Icehouse, tucked into East Nashville, is the pinnacle of what my Midwestern childhood felt like—eclectic, home-y, and casual.

We Lucked into this one
I craved good sandwiches while I was pregnant, and now my two-year-old food critic tags along as I continue the search for the best bites in town. We hadn’t planned on finding our new favorite restaurant the day we stopped into Turkey and the Wolf, but it’s been on my mind since.
We’d been at Soap Opry Laundry in East Nashville (my first time at a laundromat, but that’s a story for another day) and needed lunch since we’d come straight from church. I wanted something close and cheap, and Turkey and the Wolf had a $11 burger on the menu. Perfect.
Turkey, Wolf, Burgers?...
We split the burger and fries, and they handed us a housemade ranch and a special sauce to go with it. That’s when things got serious.
This wasn’t just any burger. It was juicy, hearty, and somehow felt like the most “homemade” burger I’ve had in ages. Add in the sauces, and I was hooked. The fries? Crinkle—nothing fancy, just done right.

But honestly, the food is only half the story. The place itself is straight out of a movie. No table had a matching chair, cornhole was set up outside, and the whole vibe was like your neighbor decided to throw a backyard BBQ and invite the entire block.
Turkey and the Wolf Icehouse - Round 2
The food was so good, I had to bring my friends back. And yes—they loved it too. There’s something about introducing people to a spot like this that makes it feel even more special, like you’re letting them in on a secret.
Here’s everything I’ve tried here so far:
“Mama Tried Burger”
“Wedge Salad”
“Chicken Potpie Empanada”
“Sweet Potato Waffle Fry Salad”
“Stuffed Crust Spanakopita”
Unfortunately for me dessert didn’t make the cut in either trip BUT I will be going back.
Why You’ll See Me Here Every Friday
Until patio season ends in Nashville, I imagine I’ll be spending just about every Friday night at Turkey and the Wolf Icehouse. It’s the perfect neighborhood hangout—good food, good people, and a space that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
So if you’re looking for a casual place with great food, come down the street and meet me for a burger. You won’t regret it.
